September 10, 2006

Technology Review @ MIT writes : What successful young technologists know by Jason Pontin

Summary

(1) Let not trouble troubles you.

(2) Appreciate failure.

(3) Problems and questions are the limiting resource in innovation.

(4) How smthg works? : Questions about how nature works.
(5) Open World : allow third-party experimentation with products.

(6) Resiliency and robustness

(7) Give what common mass want : Alternatives to estblished ways.
(8) Solution to problems.

(9) Do not depend on what economists call “network externalities”.

(10) Benefit mankind.

While developing new product/service, I would consider only one point in mind and that is : “Benifit to mankind”.I hail from developing world and country where digital/technology divide is like grand canyon.I would conside any innovation great if it is for mass.If new technology is not for billions then its of no use.

Any innovative company should create products for developed as well as for developing world. We should work in direction where there is no term called “Developing World”.

I will review 2006 Young Innovators Under 35 and will give my rank considering “For ManKind” factor at first place.Stay tuned for next post.
